The King Pin Ron Stewart Model

The KPRS Bridge

While working with Ron Stewart during the building of his new  Yates "Ron  Stewart Signature Edition” banjo, many discussions took place about things that produce the perfect sound.

Form these discussions came the birth of the new “Ron Stewart” model King Pin Bridge. Ron’s input for the design, shape and wood used to make the bridge was incorporated into this new design.

There are many types of material that bridges can be made of.  The bridge is the direct link between the strings where the sound is generated and the banjo where the vibrations become the sound and the tones that we love.

Wood can be used to hide certain unwanted tones or it can allow all of the best tones to pass through.  The size and shape of the bridge also controls this.  The purest tones are produced when the banjo is set up correctly and when the best wood is put into the bridge.

Yates King Pin Bridges

The KP2 Bridge

King Pin 2  bridges are now made of Bosnian  Mountain Maple grown in Bosnia, formerly Yugoslavia. It is common for this wood to have 30 to 40 growth rings in one inch of wood.  This wood is air dried for 20 years before it is available for use.

Our bridges, the King Pin 2 and the King Pin “Ron Stewart”, are designed on computer and is CNC cut to achieve a perfect proportion.  The final shaping, grove cutting, and polishing is then completely hand finished for spectacular presentation.  The edges are broken for comfort to the hand.  A "Y" for Yates is burned in as a seal of approval.  The Ron Stewart models also have Ron Stewart printed on the back.

Our bridges measure in height from the bottom of the string groove to the bottom of the bridge

All bridges are made to order
